Ride the River means water sports and fun! Our two camps on Bike Virginia this year will have easy access to water activities. At Bisset Park you’ll camp right on the banks of the New River. Take a tube or kayak and float your cares away in the cool waters or spend a day or afternoon learning to paddle board.
Radford Visitor Center is arranging tubing/Float Trips from the park. For reservations call 540-267-3153 or email info@VisitRadford.com
Mountain 2 River Paddleboard Company will provide activities and rentals from our headquarters locations.
If you’d rather fish than float, the New River provides a great opportunity for that as well. The waters of this river, second oldest in the world, give anglers and paddlers world-class excitement. Arrange your fly fishing or fishing excursion through the Tangent Outfitters website.
Our second camp at Claytor Lake brings even more opportunities for water enjoyment. Claytor Lake Water Sports and Mountain 2 River Paddlboard Company are located right by our camp ground and you’ll be able to just walk on over and do something that floats your boat – literally! Canoe, kayak, tube, windsurf, or hop aboard a party barge for an evening sunset cruise.
Check out this Webcam of the lake provided by Mountain 2 River Paddleboard Company.
**FUN FACT: Claytor Lake was created in 1939 with the construction of the Claytor Dam on the New River.
With such easy access to the water, Bike Virginia isn’t only about the biking this year! Sign up for the Ride the River Tour and experience Bike Virginia like you never have before!
