On the afternoon of June 21, enjoy a magical two hour pontoon boat ride enjoying the company of bald eagles, great blue heron, osprey and a variety of songbirds and woodpeckers. The historic James River is rich in history, abundant with widlife and loaded with beautiful scenery. Tours are offered at 1pm and 3:15 (2 hour tour). That’s plenty of time to ride on of our medium or short routes then catch a bus or drive over to the boat launch.
See, first hand, the conservation success story of bald eagles on the James River. About 36 years ago, the river had no resident bald eagles. Today, the James is now considered to have the greatest comeback of the bald eagle in the entire North American continent, going for zero population to over 200 pair within the watershed.
Ride aboard the Spirit of the James, a comfortable 40-foot covered pontoon boat, with a head (toilet), and experience majestic bald eagles closer than you may have ever seen them.
