Riders that join the 6 day tour in June 2014 will get to visit one of Virginia’s interesting historic spots, old downtown Petersburg among many other tourist favorites.
If you ride the Monday June 23 route between Chesterfield and Williamsburg you will pass through Virginia State University’s campus then head into the old downtown area. While you enjoy refreshments you can take part in a self guided walking tour that’s been arranged by the Visitor’s Center.
The cobble-stone streets and interesting buildings are a delight. The Bike Virginia team enjoyed a nice mid-day visit during preview ride in April.
MONDAY (June 23rd) is move day as we make our way to the next host community. On your ride you will enjoy both Petersburg and Hopewell as you make your way across the James River. The route will be approximately 58 miles and just shy of a 2000’ elevation gain. Monday’s ride is one way from Chesterfield to Williamsburg.
The area was central in the making of the movie Lincoln.
