April 9, 2014 (Richmond, Virginia)  Bike Virginia is excited to announce that the Halo Belt Company has joined as a sponsor for the 2014 Bike Virginia Event.

The Halo Belt Company specializes in an innovative safety product called the Halo Belt 2.0, a well engineered and cleverly designed product that is a combination of LED fiber optic lighting and reflective material made for keeping people safe on dark streets.

The sponsor will provide Halo Belts for the Bike Virginia staff and volunteers that work along the roadways before sunrise and after sunset during the June 2014 Bike Virginia Tour in Central Virginia.

The product will help insure that the tour’s staff stays safe while they operate the bike tour, which is attended by as many as 1,600 people for 6 days of cycling. The bike tour, a program of Bike Virginia, a 501(C)(3), raises awareness of cycling and supports cycling for health, economics, and the environment. The event has a large tourism draw with an economic impact of roughly $2 million dollars for Virginia communities.

The Halo Belt 2.0 offers a comfortable safety product that has versatile wearing positions including across the shoulder and around the waist to make it user friendly for all kinds of activities, making it perfect for the wide variety of jobs Bike Virginia’s staff do during the event. “The HALO Belt 2.0 is designed for cycling, law enforcement, highway patrol, military, roadside safety, jogging, hiking, child safety, or just about any avenue where visibility is a top priority,” said Halo Belt Company founder Vincent Pilot Ng. HALO BELT 2.0 X RED

Bike Virginia, Executive Director Dr. Kim Perry said, “our mission is to make cycling safer and more enjoyable, partnering with Halo Belt for our event helps raise awareness of a great product that has the potential to save many lives including those of our staff and volunteers. I am pleased that our staff will be wearing the Halo Belt 2.0 and I am happy to be able to support Halo Belt’s goals of supporting safer active living on nighttime roads.”

A Safety Story of Success

In 2012, Halo Belt launched on Kickstarter with the goal of saving lives. The campaign was very successful and raised over 1000% of the target goal of $10,000. Today the company offers a new design, an improvement on the original product.  The Halo Belt 2.0 offers a more versatile, brighter, and safer LED illuminated belt that is also USB rechargeable.   HALO BELT 2.0 RED

When the company began, the original Halo Belt retailed at $85. Today, Halo Belt 2.0 is available at a pledge of $37 with shipping included. As the company grew and expanded, they have been able to source raw materials and manufacturing at a significantly lower cost which allowed a redesign and upgrade.

Halo Belt founder, Vincent Pilot Ng said, “We pass these cost savings to you. With a goal of merging safety, fashion, and culture into an essential everyday product, we strive to design innovative products to help make this world safer. Our mission is to SAVE LIVES.”

A mini and micro USB connection is used to recharge the Halo Belt 2.0 which has a battery life of 36 continuous hours on blink mode. The Halo Belt 2.0 can be charged in the car or at home.
