The Bike Va Staff recently spent 4 days in Denver at the National Bicycle Tourism Conference hosted this year by the Ride the Rockies staff. There we were learning from and with industry leaders. Ride directors and advocacy experts from all over the US took part in the workshops. Speakers and event representatives from tours small and large shared experiences and best practices with one another.
Topics included many subjects ranging from event safety, sustainability and greening programs for tours, creating better rider experiences, building support for bicycling infrastructure, and creating lasting positive change in communities.
The Conference was offered by the National Bike Tour Network and the National Bicycle Tour Director’s Association. The Tour network is a program of the Association which was founded in 1990. Together the organizations help assure quality ride experiences through setting standards and help riders find events that suit their every desire.
